Yes they do
The food was worth the wait, and the peach cobbler was on point. Oh I forgot to mention the chocolate cake was a real delicacy..
Service is to slow. Food is good the guy who owns the place need to sell it to some else that will take it to a new level..
Food always cooked to perfection. Service is always fast. Line long that is to be expected with the great taste and worth every penny.
Finally after 4 years of living in Dallas I was able to walk in & out within 20 min. Covid-19 rules enforced, Line is smooth, staff was super friendly, all the food look amazing, Everything on my plate was delicious!!!The portion size blew my mind. Honestly two people can eat off one plate. I ate off of my plate 3 times. The restaurant was kind of dirty on the outside but due to location very understandable.
Sweet Georgia Brown's has had consistently good food for years. It's not a 5 star restaurant in terms of aesthetics, but the food will keep you coming back every time. My family tried it and our daughter asked her mom why she doesn't cool like THIS! We'll definitely be returning more regularly.
I hate to put my black business down, but this bbq isn't want the reviews claim . Portions was great. My issue is flavor and texture. Meat was bland as if baked. Dried out as well. I'm glad I asked for sauce on the side. Too sweet and watery for my liking.
It was so good! As usual. Large portions. It was pick up only and they got you in and out smoothly and quickly. If someone tries to come in without a mask on they are not having it! Which is good. I'll be back once it opens for dine in .
I'm from Chicago, so, I know good food. I was in Dallas and as we all know, if your black, you will starve in Texas if you are from a food city. Luckily my girlfriend "finally " told me about this place and I was very impressed! The food is delicious and reminds you of a 1970 Thanksgiving with your whole family. It's not cheap, but they give you more than you pay for and it's well worth every penny, especially if your in Dallas and you miss good food. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go again when I return.
The food was very DELICIOUS. The RIBS was fall off the bone delicious, yams yummy sweet, but not toooo sweet, the greens was absolutely mouth watering, just the right amount of seasoning and last but not least the black eyed peas was absolutely outstanding. I love the CAKES also. It's worth the wait. I came around 12:30 p.m the line was not to bad. The only down side is they need to repave their parking lot.
Dinner was wonderful I'll be glad when y'all get some chicken fried steak and my wife said beef tips and rice🙏💓🙏👍
NOW!!!! where have you been all my life? The food i had at this place, reached down inside of me and made love to my soul. It was fresh, it was a large portion, and it was made with love. The last time i ate something this good was the Thanksgiving of 1989 when my grandmother was still alive. Grandma if u hear me. You cant make Thanksgiving no more.. You're FIRED!!!! I approve!!!! 👍🏾👍🏾
I'm here visiting from New York and I hurd good things about this place, so me and my husband decided to take the drive. We stood in line for about a hour and the food was not good. NO RIBS. The yams taste like they came out of a can the cabbage was very salty and greens was tasteless. Macaroni pie was overly cooked and tasteless also. Waste of time and money!
I eat here plenty of times. Great Food. Friendly Atmosphere. 👍🏿
I love Sweet Georgia Brown. I used to live in Texas back in 2004 and this was my spot right here. After Attending the Potter's House Church. I have since Moved and live in Charlotte, North Carolina now but my sister Minister Carolyn Boler and my friend Patrick Guy who still lives in Texas we all love this place and the comfort Soul Food is off the chain. Whenever we come back to visit Texas we make our way to this place. The location of Sweet Georgia Brown is not a 5 star restaurant and before the COVID19 the lines used to be so long. You will see a trash bin outside and the neighborhood is not a good area. They have been there for a long time so I hope Sweet Georgia Brown is one day able to move into a better Location. Keep cooking good food.
Very Delicious. I enjoyed the meatloaf, mac & cheese, & greens. Yummy. Like Grandmas, Aunties, & Big Mamas of yesteryear. The dinner serves at least two people or an equivalent 2-3 servings. Don't you hurt yourself.....trying to eat it all at once. LOL. Enjoy! Yum!
I'm a long time loyal. It's one of those places that you can visit weekly or once every 2 years, but you must visit if you live as a human being. Now after your rebirth. That would be another conversation.
I'm from Mississippi and this place is the closest thing I could find to good southern soul food. They are awesome
Worth the wait! Lots of food for the price of 1. Wish it was closer to me but I'll definitely go there again regardless!
Everything was delicious. Generous portions nice friendly people and the dessert was phenomenal
First time and won’t be last!! Food was plentiful for the price ate twice off my 1 meat and 3 sides plate. Soon as we hit the door I was doing my fat gurl dance off the smell, yes Lort!! Cashier was so nice gave me a chunk of cake, a slice is an understatement and wished me well with my pregnancy and delivery!!!
Wonderful bbq, collard greens, accessible, had long lines with masked staff and takeout only.
First time ever having their food. I’m not from the area, moved here from Illinois. Real southern comfort food! Out of my 2 years of living in Texas this is definitely number one for soul food. Highly recommend and will be coming back. You will not be disappointed,
The line was quite long, but seemed to move pretty quickly. Had measures in place for social distancing. Food was okay, but tastes a bit different from visits before.
Food PHENOMENAL, service great and so many options to choose. It stays full but definitely worth the wait and $$. I don't think you'd be able to finish the meal in one sitting ( it's called "take out/doggy bag). Tell em Tony sent you..they'll look at you funny, not knowing who I am but let em know I recommended them. Happy eating.
The food was worth the wait. I was in and out with 15 minutes. The staff did an excellent job of keeping the little be moving and making sure you got everything you wanted.
A month ago I was craving dressing and other soul food staples. I'm so glad I was in the area when I googled "soul food Dallas" Everything was fresh and delish!
Haven’t ate there in a while as I travel a lot. It seems every time I order food, I try to stack it up against SWEET GEORGIA BROWN’S, to no avail. By far the best southern food in the country besides my mother
Even in quarantine the line moved quickly. Food is good, a little heavy on the salt for my taste though.
If you order beef tips and rice, the rice counts as side, so only order two more or you will charged for an extra side. Also, there was no sliced beef on the last day of Black History month. My turkey wing gravy was swimming in grease bleeding through the brown paper bag it was in and I just paid $40 for two meals and a slice of cake. I did not see stuffed baked potatoes on the menu anymore. The flavors were good. The wait was about 35 minutes.
I rate it 3 stars because of the dressing and mac and cheese two of their main dishes. The dressing has way too much SALT in it (they need to cut down on the salt)and the mac and cheese is prepared with the wrong kind of cheese. The cheese that they use pulls away from the macaronis and when you eat it all the cheese balls up and come off the macaronis. They need to use a more smoother cheese like Velveeta or make a cheese SAUCE to go over the macaroni. Everything else was good and the desserts are a 4 star especially the strawberry cake.
The line is as usually out the door since I can remember. But the food has change a lot the meats are not as flavorful as I remember. I will continue to a veggie plate cause that's always on point.
Good food..... Tell the security guard to stay from behind the counter fixing food without a mask😷 on laughing and talking to help breathing over the food unprotected.... don't want fried corona.
Sweet George Brown is one of the best places to eat hands down no comparison they are the best they have the best soul food and an amazing welcoming feel when you come through the door
Food high in calories but excellent taste all the time. I love this eating place.
Always enjoy Friday nights. I love the fried catfish, cabbage, yams, and pinto beans. Friday is the "only" day they sell/have catfish. All on the menu is good. The portions are enough for a two day meal or to share. Soul food at it finest.
I'm not from Dallas, but Sweet Georgia Brown makes me want to relocate. The portions are out of this world. I've been going there for almost twenty years now. The food is still as good as the first time. Thank you for always having great authentic soul food. If you're ever in the Dallas area try out Sweet Georgia Brown. You won't be sorry.
Some good southern cooking. Definitely will compare with your mama's. it's a little far of a drive so I can't go often, but when I do get a taste I will not hesitate to go back.
Very long lines in this Texas heat with a mask on should’ve been my first sign to go back home. I ordered a vegetable plate, and received large portions, of dressing ( Very soupy) Sweet potatoes ( subpar) greens ( NEVERMIND) and a small scoop of Broccoli rice casserole ( at this point it was a favor) I’m just going to say, share a plate before you have two plates, of food that you may not like... I’m a pretty good cook, but thought I would treat myself today and let someone cook for me. “It’s definitely a NO FOR ME!” Hopefully my pie will make up for the food, because it was all a bad experience! I’ve had better food at a cafeteria... this was a bunch of hype! Sorry; Not SORRY
As as always they didn't disappoint. By far they have the soul food game in Dallas on lock!I've eaten at most of the soul food places in Dallas and they don't come close to quality or price. Good job guys.
Pretty good food and they definitely load you up. My only grip was that variety of meats. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Either way, come hungry, leave satisfied
The price is good the service is great food was very good I ordered meatloaf mash and stuffing me absolute favourite great portions but it was extremely salty had nothing to do with the seasoning sometimes food is just really salty to me. So i ate the 3 meat plate and just couldn't finish it in one sitting everything was good. I've heard about this place in London and i was able to finally try it.
The food and service is good. Perfect after church dinnee spot.
The greens were good but had cold spots in them. The cabbage had a burnt taste to it. The beef tips and gravy tasted twangy, not beefy. I finished my greens and nothing else. It was about 8:30 and they were out of beef, pork, pork chops and hot links. The area outside was trashy. This includes the street and the properties across the street. The building itself is old and worn and should be upgraded. Check it out for yourself. I'm sure they have some smack your mother type food.3,500 + people can't be wrong.
This was my first time eating here but had heard the food was delicious. I decided to go and see for myself. Well let me tell you I was not disappointed. I don't know who does the cooking but they definitely know what Great Soul Food should taste like. I ate three times from this plate. Thank you Sweet Georgia Brown I will be back for more. 😍😍😍
I love sweet Georgia brown because it's great hot food.
Excellent customer service!! There was a long line but it moved so fast. Every server was friendly and welcoming. The food tasted excellent. The macaroni cheese was a little watery but everything else was flavored so good and tasted as it should taste!
This restaurant has first-rate service as well as delicious food. One of the best spot in the city. The food served quick and the prices were inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Wonderful I repeat wonderful. Everything you heard about it and some. Great tasting food and you will get your money's worth. The inside looks remodeled and it's black owned business. I had ribs and sausage and double mac and cheese and beans and rice. My wife had ox tails cabbage dressing and mac and cheese. We both got full and had some to take back home. So if you ask me stop by here if you in town. Oh and great customer service.
Hands down the best customer service/ hospitality I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant. The food was AMAZING.. and they aren’t stingy at all with the servings. This is a real soul food spot where they will get you FULL. I’m just blown away by this place honestly. After eating, an employee boxed up the food for us without us even asking. Where do they do that at??? I’ll definitely be coming back.
beef tips and gravy tasted weird , nothing like real beef tips . first time trying , and I couldn’t finish anything on my plate
